Morrell Falls is a quite popular destination for hikers and families looking for an afternoon stroll to one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Montana. Swan Mountains dominate the skyline as you weave through a rather monotonous lodgepole forest for the first mile and half. These eventually gives way to a spruce-fir forest with Morrell Creek flows through it. The day that Vida and I went on this hike was Memorial Day, and to say it was crowded is an understatement. This was the most packed I have seen trailhead outside of a national park. The line at the outhouse was 5 deep.

I went down the trail yesterday and 4 feet of snow made it tough after crossing the bridge and my gps said it was 600ft away from me and I didn’t know what path to go on left or right but my gps said right. Is the bridge the starting point 4138 marker ? I had to walk due to the road accessible to snowmobiles etc. 12.6 mile round trip!!! Just to that marker. Since I didn’t have more directions on foot on the gps I assumed the falls was frozen and out of view by the compact snow. Can you give me a bit more information so I can find this Morrell Falls next time I go to this trailhead?
